Dear family, friends and partners of Polished Arrow Music Ministry;
Another year on its way out and no one but our Heavenly Father knows what 2009 will bring and as children of the Living God we are so blessed to be able to say “It is well with my soul” no matter what may come.
Let me begin with a heartfelt thank you to all of you who have supported the Polished Arrow Music ministry this past year through your donations and prayers. The Lord has been at work in the lives of many through the words and melodies of the songs from the CDs given as well as those sold. Here is a testimony of one whose life that was blessed.
A couple of years ago my Father in Law died of cancer. During his last few weeks he was in a lot of pain and couldn’t stand any noise at all. My Mother in Law would play your CDs for him and it would calm him. If she tried to play anything else he would become upset. I hope to see him in heaven one day and I am happy that your music blessed him. Dave Hopkinson, ON
This past year has been full even though I have not traveled as much as I did last year. It began at Bill and Louise’s in Ontario with our friends Andy and Kathi Williams. On New Year’s Eve we enjoyed a sweet time of fellowship as well as the Lord’s Supper followed by the ushering in of the New Year through prayer where we presented ourselves to God for His will to be done in and through us in 2008. As several opportunities for ministry had presented themselves to both Wayne and me in 2007, we offered each one to God so that He might reveal and bless those that were His plans for us, and close the doors to the ones He had not authorized.
Most of January was spent at home with my husband in my own little home, in my own little kitchen (I love being in my kitchen). Then in February, I traveled to Port Cartier, Quebec to await the arrival of Elizabeth Grace Gravel. Elizabeth is the daughter of one of my spiritual daughters Rose-Anne and her husband Jean Philippe. Elizabeth has a brother named Josué “French for Joshua” who is six and a big sister Leah who is three. I spent three weeks with the family helping as much as I could and praying that I would not lose my sanity. Wheeooff! That was quite an experience for one who has never had children. But what a privilege and gift it was to see this new little life come into the world. There is no other experience like it. I cannot imagine the joy felt by parents when their children are born. But thanks be to God for giving me a glimpse of what grand-parents experience. Oh! And did I tell you? I have a new name now. Grand-mama Brenda! How cool is that? I’m a grand mother. I love it! The other day Leah called and asked to talk to grand-papa Wayne, too cute! We are so blessed!
While in Port Cartier I also did a concert for the French Baptist church. It was a blessed time, a time definitely authorized by our Heavenly Father.
In April, Wayne and I traveled to Woodstock, Ontario to take part in the Christian Motorcyclists Association’s Season’s of Refreshing. The following weekend we went to Moncton to do the same for the CMA here in the Maritimes.
In May I spent two weeks in Saskatchewan ministering with the Canadian Revival Fellowship in conferences, soup kitchens, children’s ministries and church services. I was able to give away copies of my CDs free to several people at the soup kitchens.
In June, Wayne and I both ministered at the Bristol Wesleyan church where Wayne brought a powerful father’s day message and I shared in song and a presentation of the Polished Arrow Ministry. Then hay season began and I spent a lot of June and July at home gardening and helping as much as I could with the hay here on the farm. As much as I love driving the old Farmall tractor, it is my father-in-law’s tractor and God forbid anyone take his job from him during hay season. He drove that tractor 95% of the time and was proud to tell everyone that it was he and Wayne that brought in all the hay this year. Well, I would be proud too if I was 82 years of age. What a guy! He is such a blessing and a real joy to have around.
In August and September I spent four weeks in South Africa with a team from the Canadian Revival Fellowship, Multi-Ministries a ministry of South Africa, and Heart Cry for Revival Africa. We were involved in conferences, door to door ministry, tent meetings and ministry to farm workers where the farmers shut down the work and called the employees and their children for a church service at the farm school. {Pictures and report enclosed} Before my flight to SA Wayne and I spent a week in Ontario and two days before my departure I got news of my brother Stephen losing his battle with cancer. The funeral was held on the day of my arrival in SA. How I thank my God for His grace and mercy and for keeping me comforted through the busy schedule in SA. The day before leaving I was able to share of few words with my brother where we said our good byes until we see each other in heaven. God is so good and is so concerned about every detail of our lives.
On September 30th I joined Bert and Liz Genaille for a three week tour here in the Maritimes. We traveled to Fredericton, Miramichi, Oromocto, PEI, Cape Breton, Sussex, and Perth Andover. It was a wonderful time of sharing and fellowship. It was a real blessing to share at the St. Mary’s of the Angels, Catholic Church in Perth Andover where Bert, Liz and I were able to share the Gospel with holy boldness, everyone present was blessed and touched. Even the priest was eager to buy my Christmas CD because of the one song I shared at the end of the concert called Give me Jesus. He remarked of how he had been touched by the song and announced to his congregation that the Choir would have to learn it. It was he; Gilbert Doddatto who officiated at my brother’s funeral in August and because I was unable to be present he surprised everyone by playing my song His Love Never Dies from my first CD. It was said that many were moved to tears. I do not know and will not know until I arrive at my Father’s House how many lives have been touched by the music He has given me but I thank Him for the gift of music and the desire to share it with as many as I can. God can do great and mighty things through music; I have seen it happen time and time again. He did it in my life; I know He is doing it in many others.
On November 1st I did a benefit concert for New Life Mission in Moncton, NB and on the 29th I sang at a Christmas Banquet for the Perth Andover Baptist church. I was told by a 95 year old former dentist that if he could package me up he would take me home. I guess the Lord blessed him through my concert. ha-ha!
Now I am enjoying for the first time in a long time some quiet time at home baking and getting ready for the Christmas season. The girls, Lisa, Nathalie and Betty Ann will be coming to spend some time here with us and will also stay here while Wayne and I travel by car to Ontario and then fly from Toronto to Regina to take part in 14 days of the Gospel where we both will have opportunities to share and sing (well, Wayne won’t sing) but he will share the Gospel.
Lisa and Nathalie are in their second year at Bethany Bible college and are doing very well and Betty Ann will be returning home from six months away where she spent three months training at the YWAM base in New Zealand then went off to Jakarta, Indonesia where she did outreach ministry to people (mostly Muslims) in the slums of Jakarta. We are looking forward to having them here with us.
Now Wayne and I are before our Gracious Father, in all humility and with outstretched arms saying “Here Am I, Send ME!!!” I am so thankful that we began the year by presenting ourselves to God for whatever His will might be; we can rest in His arms of love knowing that He has our best interest at heart. Now we are eager to begin 2009 with the same goal in mind. Your will O’ God be done in and through our lives in this next year.
And with St. Paul we can say…
Now glory be to God! By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope. Ephesians 3:20
In Christ alone
